Your appointment

What to expect

How a consultation works, from preparing beforehand to the plan you leave with.

Because hormones regulate one another, the same symptom can have several different causes, and two people with the same blood result may need quite different things. The history, the examination and the test results are considered together.

01

Before you come

Bring any referral letter, a list of your current medicines and supplements, and any recent blood test or scan results you have. A short note of your main symptoms and when they began is helpful. If you like, you can complete the optional pre-consultation form beforehand.

02

The consultation

New appointments allow up to 45 minutes to take a history, examine you where needed, and talk things through.

03

Investigations, if needed

If tests would help, Dr Spiliotis will explain which ones and why. Some are done at the first visit and some later, depending on the question. They are charged separately by the hospital or laboratory; please ask about costs before tests are arranged.

04

After your appointment

A written summary follows your appointment. With your consent, a copy goes to your GP.

05

Follow-up

If follow-up is needed, Dr Spiliotis will advise when. It may be in person or, where clinically suitable, by video.

06

Between appointments

You see Dr Spiliotis at every appointment, and the practice is your point of contact for non-urgent questions and arrangements in between.

Investigations

Tests, when they are needed

Dr Spiliotis decides which tests are needed and when. Some are best done together, others in stages, so that each result can guide the next step.

Blood & hormone tests

Biochemistry, hormone and antibody tests, with the timing and preparation each test requires.

Imaging

Ultrasound, MRI and other imaging, arranged through the hospital or another provider where needed.

Continuous glucose monitoring

Review of continuous glucose monitoring data, where relevant.
